Reforestation - Sheep Creek, USA

Carbon Removal

The reforestation of a portion of forestland lost to the Harris Mountain Fire, which destroyed over 30,000 acres of mainly rugged terrain south of Cascade, Montana, in the summer of 2021.

This project:

  • Captures CO2 to reduce carbon emissions.

  • Promotes biodiversity by restoring natural habitats.

  • Enables multi-generational stewardship

  • Utilizes advanced technologies for monitoring and transparency.

  • Creates resilient forests

    Removal

Planting new forests or restoring degraded ones boosts carbon capture and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. These initiatives can earn carbon credits by proving they increase carbon storage through tree planting or regrowth.

  • Credit start: Aug 15, 2023

    Credit end: Aug 14, 2124

This project has vintage years, which indicate the specific year when the carbon credits were issued. These credits correspond to the amount of CO2 avoided or captured by the project in that same year.

  • Carbon offsetting involves funding projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions to achieve a net zero carbon footprint. Each ton of carbon absorbed from the atmosphere equates to a carbon credit. To ensure these credits are genuine, they must be approved by independent organisations such as Verra or Gold Standard. These bodies verify that the projects genuinely benefit the environment and wouldn't have occurred without the support.
